Faculty of Dental Medicine and Surgery Organises Successful Medical Outreach Day at Azza Primary School for Girls
PORT SUDAN — As part of its ongoing commitment to public health and social responsibility, the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Surgery at National University–Sudan has conducted a vital community outreach initiative in Port Sudan.
Organised under the umbrella of the university’s Health and Community Partnership Programme, the initiative was carried out in close cooperation with the state’s Ministry of Education and Guidance. The medical day took place at the Azza Primary School for Girls, situated in the heart of Port Sudan, with the primary objective of enhancing oral health literacy and delivering essential dental services to young students.
Promoting Preventive Oral Health
The event was supervised by Dr Rayan Kamal Eldin, Resident in Paediatric Dentistry. A core component of the day was an interactive educational programme designed for both the students and the school’s teaching staff. The sessions focused on:
- Raising awareness about the critical importance of daily oral and dental hygiene.
- Promoting positive preventive habits to maintain long-term dental health.
- Educating the school community on how to identify and ward off common oral and dental issues.
Comprehensive Care and Direct Clinical Referrals
Beyond health education, the faculty’s team provided comprehensive therapeutic and preventive dental services on-site. To ensure continuity of care, cases that required specialised attention or advanced clinical interventions were formally referred to the University Clinics in Port Sudan, where they will receive their necessary, fully structured treatment plans.
A Commitment to Community Service
The medical outreach day achieved remarkable success, marked by enthusiastic engagement and active participation from students and teachers alike.
This initiative further underscores the National University’s vital institutional role in consolidating a robust culture of health awareness, supporting the public sector, and driving impactful community service across the region.
