Report on Educational Outreach Programme to Pregnant Women

Date and Venue:
The educational day was held at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Teaching Hospital in Port Sudan, with the participation of fifth-year medical students from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery, National University.

Objectives of the Educational Day:
To raise health awareness among pregnant women regarding prenatal care.
To educate mothers about the importance of proper nutrition during pregnancy.
To promote the concept of regular antenatal follow-up to prevent complications for both mother and fetus.
To spread education about maternal and child health in collaboration with the Reproductive Health Office at the National University.

Activities Conducted During the Day:
Educational lectures covering topics such as:
- Proper nutrition during pregnancy
- Danger signs during pregnancy and how to manage them
- Importance of regular checkups and routine tests
- Fetal care and maternal physical and mental health
Distribution of educational leaflets titled “Healthy Pregnancy Guide: Your Nutrition, Your Baby’s Safety”, containing simplified medical advice for mothers.

The Reproductive Health Team provided additional guidance on:
- Safe delivery
- Family planning
- Breastfeeding
Target Group:
Pregnant women attending the Obstetrics and Gynecology Teaching Hospital in Port Sudan.

Outcomes and Impressions:
The educational day witnessed strong engagement from pregnant women, who showed great interest in the presented information and asked many questions about prenatal care and nutrition.
The hospital administration and the Reproductive Health Office expressed their appreciation for the efforts of the medical students and their role in community service.
Recommendations:
To continue organizing similar activities in other hospitals.
