Leading National University-Sudan Towards a Global Future

We are proud to announce that Professor Ahmed Fahal, President of National University-Sudan, represented our institution at the “Positioning Your University for Global Visibility” workshop. Organized by the Association of African Universities (AAU), the event took place from 27 to 30 January 2026 in Lusaka, Zambia.

The workshop convened senior university leaders and professionals from across Africa to strengthen institutional capacity for enhancing global visibility, research impact, and international engagement.

Strategic Thematic Pillars

The program focused on four core thematic areas essential for modern institutional growth:

  • Digital Marketing: Strategic branding approaches including website optimization, content marketing, social media engagement, and the adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Open Access Visibility: Utilizing online repositories and open-access publishing models to increase research accessibility, citations, and institutional recognition.
  • Research Excellence: Highlighting the importance of digital research profiling, equitable international partnerships, and the effective monitoring of research impact using platforms such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Altmetric.
  • Transnational Education (TNE): Exploring TNE models and their contributions to university branding, innovative teaching, alumni networks, and international rankings.

Empowering our Academic Community

Beyond high-level strategy, the workshop underscored critical capacity-building initiatives. These include academic writing support and mentorship for early-career researchers, which are essential for sustaining long-term research visibility. Participants also collaboratively addressed challenges related to accreditation, quality assurance, and regulatory frameworks in the African context.

Our Commitment to Excellence

By engaging with continental leaders on digital transformation and research excellence, National University-Sudan is ensuring our institution remains at the forefront of global higher education. The practical tools and actionable approaches gained from this workshop will strengthen our digital presence, amplify our research impact, and expand our international reach.
