Awareness Program (School Trip Program)

As part of their community health training, fourth-year nursing students from the National University, under faculty coordination. The program had two main components:

  • Hands-on training schoolteachers in first aid and early detection of breast cancer
  • Delivering health awareness sessions and harmful habits in society for the staff and students. smoking, unhealthy diets, physical inactivity, and harmful substances. These interactive health awareness sessions tailored according to the age group (KG1, KG2, Primary stage and secondary stage).
  • Improve students’ understanding of personal hygiene and proper handwashing.
  • Raise student`s awareness about the dangers of bullying, types and its psychological and social consequences
  • Promote a culture of mutual respect among students within the school.

Methodology

The program used a combination of lectures, visual aids, practical demonstrations, role-play, and interactive activities.

Outcomes

– Teachers acquired practical first aid knowledge and confidence to manage emergencies.

– Students in school enhanced their awareness of hygiene, healthy habits, and preventive health practices.

– The program strengthened collaboration between nursing students and the school community.

Conclusion

The program successfully met its dual goals: equipping teachers with first aid skills and improving health awareness among students. It was positively received by both the school staff and students, and it offered valuable experiential learning for the nursing students by linking academic knowledge with community practice.
