Bridging Science and Society: Medical Laboratory and Nursing Students Launch a Health Outreach Initiative in Khartoum
The Faculty of Medical Laboratory Sciences and the Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery recently launched a joint field visit to the Al-Kalakla Al-Qubba Health Centre, reinforcing their shared commitment to community wellness and practical excellence in Khartoum State.
Advancing Community Health Literacy
This initiative is a cornerstone of the university’s ongoing community outreach program. By stepping outside the classroom, our faculties aim to raise public health literacy and provide essential diagnostic services to underserved areas. The visit focused on proactive health management, offering citizens direct access to vital medical screenings.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Services
During the visit, students and faculty supervisors provided a wide range of medical testing services, including:
- Routine Screenings: General health check-ups and baseline diagnostics.
- Specialized Biochemistry: Comprehensive Kidney Function Tests (KFT) and Liver Function Tests (LFT).
- Chronic Disease Monitoring: Blood glucose testing and diabetes management advice.

Mentorship and Collaborative Spirit
The event was a standout example of internal synergy. It brought together a diverse cohort, including alumni and students from the first, second, and fourth years. This multi-level collaboration allowed senior students and graduates to mentor their junior counterparts, fostering a spirit of teamwork and professional ethics in a real-world clinical setting.

Academic Theory Meets Practical Impact
Beyond the clinical data, the visit achieved a profound social impact. By bridging the gap between academic theory and hands-on application, the program reaffirmed the university’s dedication to community service. Visitors to the center expressed high levels of satisfaction, noting the professionalism of the teams and the clarity of the health guidance provided.
