1-Department of Internal Medicine
The department of Internal Medicine is committed to the practice and teaching of evidence based medicine. The expert physicians strive for success in providing up to date clinical knowledge and set examples for ideal medical practice.
Teaching Programmes:
The department of Internal Medicine teaches the core concepts of medical practice to medical students throughout their clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they conduct the Internal Medicine course in fourth year, as well as the Emergency Medicine course.
2-Department of General Surgery
The department of surgery aims to contribute to the excellence of surgical practice and health care through training of undergraduate students to be professional, knowledgeable and dedicated practitioners.
Teaching Programmes:
The department of General Surgery teaches the core concepts of surgical practice in addition to surgical sub specialties to medical students throughout their clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they conduct the General Surgery course in fourth year.
3-Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology
The staff in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology endeavor to teach students to be professionals in the field of female and reproductive health.
Teaching Programmes:
The department of Obstetrics & Gynecology teaches the core concepts of obstetric practice to medical students throughout their clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they conduct the Obstetrics & Gynecology course in fifth year.
4.Department of Pediatrics
It is the mission of the pediatrics department at NUSU to graduate doctors who respect and appreciate the field of pediatrics, such that they will provide exceptional child care throughout their clinical practice.
Teaching Programmes:
The department of Pediatrics teaches the core concepts of pediatric practice to medical students throughout their clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they conduct the Pediatrics course in fifth year.
5.Department of Microbiology
The microbiology department aims to provide a stimulating environment, teaching the core aspects of microbiology as it pertains to medical practice and research.

The department of Microbiology is a department of basic medical sciences concerned with teaching medical students in their pre-clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they partake in courses from first to third year, with specific focus on basic microbiology in first year (Principles of Disease 1) as well as Entymology and Parasitology.
6.Department of Anatomy
The department of anatomy strives to provide teaching of high standard in accordance with the mission of the faculty of medicine and NUSU as an institution. Staff members will maintain professional conduct, offering an open and safe learning environment.
Teaching Programmes:
The department of Anatomy is a department of medical sciences concerned with teaching medical and para medical students in their pre-clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they partake in courses from first to third year teaching the fundamental aspects of human body structure, including gross anatomy, histology, embryology and neuroanatomy. In addition to lectures, the teaching of anatomy at NUSU also utilizes practical sessions in the form of histology labs and dissection room discussions.
7.Department of Pathology
The mission of the pathology department at NUSU is to support the educational progress of students in pathological and diagnostic sciences. This is achieved through meticulous efforts in teaching and presence of a motivating learning environment.

The department of Pathology is a department of medical sciences concerned with teaching medical and para medical students in their pre-clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they partake in courses from first to third year teaching the fundamental aspects of pathology in courses such as Blood and Lymph, Principles of Disease (2) and all courses that cover the body systems.
8.Department of Biochemistry
The biochemistry department at NUSU aspires to attain excellence in the field of biochemical sciences by imparting in depth knowledge of the subject to the students. To achieve this goal, the biochemistry staff at NUSU works as a team on theoretical and practical aspects, providing a learning environment conducive to the understanding of life at a molecular level.
Teaching Programmes:
The department of Biochemistry is a department of medical sciences concerned with teaching medical and para medical students in their pre-clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they partake in courses from first to third year teaching the fundamental aspects of biochemistry, teaching in courses such as Nutrition and Metabolism, The Endocrine System and Basic Biochemistry among others. In addition to lectures, biochemistry sessions at NUSU also involve teaching the practical concepts of the subject in a laboratory setting.
9.Department of Community Medicine
The department of community medicine at NUSU aims to achieve excellence in medical research, community oriented patient care and ethical standards of practice both locally and globally.

The department of Community Medicine teaches medical and para medical students during both their pre-clinical and clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they partake in courses from first to fifth year teaching crucial aspects of medical practice including professionalism and ethics, disease prevention as well as scientific research.
10.Department of Physiology
The department of physiology at NUSU aims to equip future doctors with excellent knowledge and understanding of human physiology. Since it is one of the basic pillars of medical practice, the staff are dedicated to imparting high standard teaching and training.

The department of Physiology is a department of medical sciences concerned with teaching medical and para medical students in their pre-clinical years. In the Faculty of Medicine they partake in courses from first to third year teaching the fundamental aspects of physiology in courses such as Man and His Environment as well as all courses pertaining to the systems of the body.
